UEFA increases prize money for Champions League by half a billion euros

The prize money in the Champions League will increase by half a billion from next season. UEFA announced this during an annual conference. The Europa League and the Conference League will also have more money available to distribute.

This season is the last time we will see the Champions League in its current format. From the next edition, 36 teams will participate, now there are 32, and additional rounds will be added. The financial growth (21%) will not match the growth in the number of competitions (45%). That is why UEFA decided to increase the prize money from 2 billion euros to 2.46 billion euros. This increase is the first since 2018.

But UEFA does not lose sight of its other competitions either. The Europa League may make do with an extra 100 million euros (from 465 to 565 million euros). The smallest brother, the Conference League, will receive an additional 50 million euros (from 235 to 285 million euros).

Tonight, after a two-month rest, the Champions League will start again with the first legs of the round of 16. The Europa League and Conference League will resume on Thursday with an intermediate round to reach the round of 16.
