The eyes of the American sports world were mainly focused on the Super Bowl, but NBA basketball was also on the agenda.

Boston defeated Miami (106-110) in the cracker of the day. The Celtics saw a 15-point lead shrink to two points with less than two minutes on the clock, but emerged victorious.

Jayson Tatum scored 26 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and provided 9 assists for the Celtics. Kristaps Porzingis (25 points) also had a good shot. For Miami, Tyler Herro’s 24 points were not enough.

It was Herro who provided the exciting ending with a three-pointer to reduce the deficit to 106-104 with 1’49” on the clock, but Tatum and Porzingis won from the free throw line.

Boston leads the Eastern Conference with 41 wins compared to twelve losses. Miami (28/25) is eighth.

In the other match, Oklahoma City Thunder won against Sacramento (127-113) at the Paycom Center, thanks to 38 points from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Oklahoma (36-17) ranks third in the West. Sacramento (30-22) follows seventh.
