Gill Swerts expects an open match between Young Devils and Spain: “So we should not be naive”

“In terms of statistics, the match against Scotland was actually our best match,” said national coach Gill Swerts. “But those statistics mean nothing if you lose. But there are plenty of moments that we will take with us to the next match. We talked about it as a group and everyone is now on the same page to get a result against Spain. I expect a less closed match. Spain is a team that lets the opponent play football. For us it would be a matter of dealing with those spaces in the right way and certainly not playing naively.”

Swerts also had good news to report. Koni De Winter, who was missing against Scotland, is available for the match against Spain thanks to a face mask. (YBW)
