According to Mendy, his salary was wrongly withheld after he became involved in a rape case, in which the footballer has now been acquitted.

Mendy was acquitted of six rapes and one sexual assault in January, and six months later of another rape and attempted rape.

Mendy is demanding that Manchester City pay him £100,000 a week (more than €110,000), wages withheld from September 2021 until June 2023, when his contract expired. The left back, who was suspended by City after the affair broke out, has now signed with the French Lorient.
