Antwerp TOPdesk 3×3 loses the final in Bahrain after a good course

Antwerp TOPdesk, number 5 in the world, made an impression at the 3X3 World Tour in Manama (Bahrain). It did lose the final to the Serbian Partizan (FIBA 9) after a thriller 16-15. With a second place, 30,000 dollars in prize money, and 80 points, the Sinjoren are almost assured of a place at the apotheotic Masters of the 3X3 World Tour in Jeddah (8 and 9 December).

On Thursday, Antwerp TOPdesk won 22-7 against Jeddah (FIBA 7, Saudi Arabia) and 21-11 against the Swiss Lausanne (FIBA 11). In the quarter-finals, Dennis “The Menace” Donkor, Vic Van Oosterwyck, Jonas Foerts and Bryan De Valck won 18-12 against the Chinese Futian (FIBA 14) with ex-Antwerp player Thibaut “Must See TV” Vervoort. In the semi-finals, Dennis Donkor led Antwerp TOPdesk to a 21-10 win against Lithuanian Marijampole (FIBA 17) with 10 points. In the final against the Serbian Partizan (FIBA 9), the Antwerp team lost 16-15 to the Serbian Partizan after a thriller. The last 3X3 World Tour tournament in Hong Kong is scheduled for next week. This will be followed by the Masters in Jeddah. (cpm)
