Lugano wants to take advantage of a difficult period at Club Brugge: “Their confidence may be less, we want to put pressure on them”

Lugano, Club Brugge’s opponent on the fourth matchday of the Conference League, must avoid defeat at the Jan Breydel Stadium to keep their fate in their own hands. Coach Mattia Croci-Torti, who was an attraction in the first leg with his funny cap, believes in his chances against a club whose “confidence may not be optimal.”
“We want to be competitive in Bruges,” the Swiss coach explained at his press conference. Lugano, like Bodo/Glimt, has 4 points, while Club is in the lead with 7 points after the victory in Switzerland (1-3). “But we always participated. In the first leg we were able to get a point until two minutes before the end. We know it is difficult to come and play here, but we want to cause Club problems with our weapons.”
The Swiss, third in the competition last season, are having a difficult season and are only sixth, 9 points behind the leader. “When you play three competitions, it is always difficult to perform in each competition. It is difficult in the championship at the moment.”
On Sunday they lost in Lausanne (3-1): “We didn’t play good football. I’m not happy about it, but that can happen when you play five games in thirteen days.”
Amoura as an example
But Club Brugge is also going through a difficult period and the coach wants to respond to this instability. “Bruges is having a very difficult time in the competition. They are a team built to win, so their confidence may not be high given the situation. We want to put pressure on them. On Sunday a former Lugano player scored (Mohamed Amoura, red.) two goals against them (in the 2-1 win for Union Saint-Gilloise) and we hope to be able to do the same,” concludes Croci-Torti.
