David Goffin (ATP 110) was very disappointed after his defeat in the final of the Challenger tournament in Bergamo, Italy. He lost 1-6, 7-6 (7/3), 6-3 to British top seed Jack Draper (ATP 91). The Liege native had a break lead at 3-2 in the last set.

“First of all I would like to congratulate Jack,” said David Goffin after the match. “It was a great battle. You are a great player and you have played exceptionally well this week. I hope we will play finals and bigger tournaments in the future. I also had a great week here, with a lot of support from the public. You made so much noise, it was like there were 10,000 people in the stands. I also want to thank my team, my wife and my coach this week. It is a defeat that is not easy to swallow. But next time we will win the title.”

The Belgian number 1 is now heading to Finland, where he will participate in the Challenger tournament in Helsinki. In the first round, Goffin will play against Portuguese third seed Nuno Borges (ATP 74).
