In the Lotto Volley League, the Belgian volleyball championship for men, Guibertin won his catch-up match of the first day against Maaseik 3-1 on Sunday.

After Saturday’s and Friday’s matches in the Belgian Cup, Guibertin and Maaseik were back in action on Sunday evening for a catch-up match of the first matchday.

Despite a busy weekend, the Walloon Brabanders got off to a flying start against the Belgian vice-champion. With a lead of two sets to nil (26-26, 26-24), Guibertin showed that they have everything it takes to reach the top six this season.

Maaseik, one of the title favorites, showed more determination in the third set and managed to reduce the deficit (18-25), but Guibertin still took control in a fiercely fought fourth set (25-23).

After losing their first match of the season to Roeselare (1-3) a week ago, the Walloon Brabanders have now won their first competition victory. Maaseik (6 points from three games) shares the lead with Roeselare, Menen and Leuven, which has one game less.
