VIDEO. Turkish and German fans clash in Istanbul for the CL match between Galatasaray and Bayern Munich

In the Turkish capital Istanbul on Monday evening, a day before the Champions League showdown between Galatasaray and Bayern Munich, Turkish and German fans fought.

The two groups clashed in the Beyoglu district. The Turkish TV channel NTV reported this on Tuesday. At least five people were injured, four of them Germans.

Images from the Demirören news agency show how both groups threw chairs and bottles at each other in the popular shopping street Istiklal before the police intervened. The reason for the riots is still unclear.

Bayern Munich has a maximum of six points after two matchdays in group A. Galatasaray, Dries Mertens’ club, follows in second with four points. The two teams will meet at 6:45 PM Belgian time.

Also striking: in preparation for the match, Bayern’s players completed a light training today. They held it… in a meeting room of the hotel where they were staying.
