Alexander Blockx and Gilles-Arnaud Bailly meet each other in the final qualifying round of the European Open

The 18-year-old Belgians Alexander Blockx (ATP-771) and Gilles-Arnaud Bailly (ATP-646) will play against each other.

In the first of two qualifying rounds, after an hour and a half, Blockx beat the Serbian Hamad Medjedovic (ATP-105) 7-6 (7/3) and 6-2), while Gilles-Arnaud Bailly (ATP-646) had much more difficulty with the Spaniard Pablo Llamas Ruiz (ATP-132). Bailly won after three sets 7-6 (7/5), 5-7 and again 7-6 (7/5). His match was a battle of attrition lasting two hours and fifty minutes.

Earlier in the day, Gauthier Onclin (ATP-206) also qualified for the final qualifying round. Onclin beat the American Maxime Cressy (ATP-112) and has to pass the Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (ATP-218) in round two. Zizou Bergs (ATP-181) failed in the first preliminary round against the Frenchman Titouan Droguet (ATP-159) and Kimmer Coppejans (ATP-180) ultimately decided not to participate in the qualifications due to an injury.
