Erik ten Hag organizes a “healthy” barbecue for his players and family, but Sancho is no longer welcome in the United canteen

Manchester United were able to win again on Saturday after three consecutive defeats and that was a good thing, because manager Erik ten Hag had invited players, staff and family for a barbecue the next day. Not on the guest list: Jadon Sancho. The winger is at odds with Ten Hag and is no longer even welcome in the dining room of the A-team.

Erik ten Hag organized a barbecue for the families of his players and staff in Carrington, where United has its home base, on Sunday, the day after the 0-1 win against Burnley.

The families were treated to a “healthy barbecue”, according to Daily Mailwith activities for the children, including a bouncy castle, make-up and entertainers.

With the barbecue, Ten Hag wanted to recognize the entourage of staff and players who support them through thick and thin. Given United’s difficult start to the season, that support is more important than ever. According to witnesses, Ten Hag took the time to meet and chat with each of them.

The barbecue was planned a few weeks ago. The fact that United were able to win again for the first time in four matches the day before was a happy coincidence.

Not invited was Jayden Sancho, the winger for whom United paid 85 million euros in 2021.

Sancho and Ten Hag are at loggerheads and as long as the Englishman does not apologize, he has to train with the promises. The club has also banned him from using the A team’s facilities. He is no longer even allowed to enter the A-team dining room.

According to English media, an apology from Sancho is not imminent. The ex-Dortmund player is angry because Ten Hag criticized him after the match against Arsenal. Ten Hag said he had not selected Sancho because his performance in training was below par.

Sancho posted a comment on social media at the time, which he later deleted. In the post he stated that he was a scapegoat and accused Ten Hag of lying. “Do not believe everything you read. I don’t allow people to say things that are completely untrue. I did everything I could to train well. I think there are other reasons for this problem, but I’ll keep them to myself. I have been a scapegoat for a long time and that is not fair.”

His teammates reportedly urged Sancho to apologize to Ten Hag.
