Xavi also looked sharply at Arthur Vermeeren: “But he wasn’t in the game well”

After all the scouts that Barcelona already sent to Antwerp to see Arthur Vermeeren play, Barça coach Xavi was now able to see the Antwerp midfielder with his own eyes.

“It was difficult for him,” said Xavi. “It went well for the first twenty minutes, but after that it became difficult for Antwerp and for him. I think Mark van Bommel’s intentions are very positive, but there is still work to be done. When Antwerp started to struggle – because we were so good – you saw that Vermeeren no longer felt comfortable.”
