Which team will Mark van Bommel send out to pasture in Barcelona? We would certainly be surprised if the Antwerp coach changed much after the 0-3 win over Westerlo.
At the back, Toby Alderweireld has made quite the comeback and we also expect Owen Wijndal to be back in the team. The Dutch left back made an excellent debut in the Kuipje and has also been selected for the starting line-up. It could always be that De Laet, who relieved him after 64 minutes, will be preferred, but then Bataille will have to play against his foot on the left again. Not easy, against the strong wings of FC Barcelona.
There is no doubt in midfield. Arthur Vermeeren – on the list at Barça – will be the man in the picture there, with Keita and Ekkelenkamp in support. These are the wings that Van Bommel regularly rotates with. Just like against Westerlo, we opt for Balikwisha and Kerk, but Muja is also a viable option given his good substitute (goal plus assist). Unfortunately, Ondrejka is missing for the Great Old with “a fracture”, says Van Bommel. He’s out for several weeks.
The attack leader is of course called Vincent Janssen.
