The fifty-year-old German is serving a day of suspension after he was excluded in April due to criticism of the match management in the second leg of the quarter-finals against Manchester City, the subsequent CL winner. Against Bayern, his assistants Anthony Barry, Arno Michels and Zsolt Löw will take over. At the end of last year, Barry was allowed to accompany the Red Devils to the World Cup in Qatar as one of the assistants of then national coach Roberto Martinez.

The now 37-year-old Barry combined that position with our national team with his activities at Chelsea, where Tuchel was then a trainer. He was also previously assistant national coach for Ireland. There was apparently a connection with Martinez, because Barry has now followed the Spaniard to Portugal, where our former national coach was appointed as the successor to Fernando Santos at the beginning of this year.
