It can change. Almost three years ago, Marcus Thuram did not know what happened to him when, as a Borussia Monchengladbach player, he was not allowed into San Siro because he was not recognized by a steward. Yesterday he made the Milanese crowd roar with joy again with a wonderful goal.
The images circulated around Europe in the autumn of 2020. When corona was still rampant, Monchengladbach visited Inter in the Champions League. The day before the match, Marcus Thuram was expected at San Siro for the obligatory press conference.
Although the French attacker did not just enter the stadium. An Italian steward did not recognize Thuram because he was wearing a face mask. He thought nothing better than to google himself and show that he is indeed a Gladbach player. The Frenchman pulled down his face mask so that the steward could see the resemblance. It produced funny images.

Almost three years later, Thuram, now 26, no longer needs Google. After four seasons at Gladbach, he exchanged the Bundesliga for Serie A last summer. Inter managed to sign Thuram on a free transfer. A good thing, because the market value of the striker is estimated at around 32 million euros. In Milan he must make Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko forget.
A mission in which the Frenchman seems to be succeeding for the time being, because after four games he has two goals and three assists. Yesterday Thuram was also in the cannon in the city derby against AC Milan. With a princely goal he put the 2-0 on the board. San Siro exploded. In the end, the derby was a big disappointment for Milan: Inter won with a heavy 5-1 score. And all of Milan now knows who Marcus Thuram is.
