Flank midfielder Rob Dekleermaeker (26) from Kortenberg comes back to the window after two seasons of inactivity. At Sporting Kampenhout, he wants to bring the swing to the right, but the blue-yellows must also take into account his professional activities in the real estate sector.

Two years ago he was taking over Immo Vermast from Overijse with a partner and he had to stop playing football for a while. “It was then too busy and hectic to combine the competitions and training sessions with my job, which often means evening and weekend work. Now everything has fallen into its folds and I have discussed my situation with Sporting Kampenhout. I was also able to join two other teams in the area, but the choice for Kampenhout was the right one.”

“In the meantime I got to know trainer Denis Dessaer, sporting director David Pannis and chairman Andries Vanhoof. That was fun and motivating,” opened the real estate broker, who is also active in a second company. At Next Generation Football Camp they organize football camps in Turkey for the 40 greatest talents from Europe between 14 and 16 years old. They provide a complete framework for the elite boys, so that they start their season fresh.

House hunters Million Week won

“This also had a major impact in the sabbatical year, both Immo Vermast and Next Gen Football Camp. Also winning House hunters Million Week on Four played a major role. The professional activities do not mean that I will not do everything I can,” said Dekleermaeker, who has been running intensively for two months now.

At least top five must be the ambition at Kampenhout. “My role on the field is on the right flank – there are options both on the back and higher up the flank. We have a healthy ambition. After last season’s scenario, extremely narrow relegation, our motivation is at least top five. Given the strong acquisitions, that is certainly possible. But we are in a strong series, the strongest I’ve ever experienced”, says Dekleermaeker, who previously played for Racing Mechelen, Grimbergen and VC Bertem-Leefdaal, among others.
