Belgium will play against Croatia, the Netherlands and Sweden in mid-August. Only the winner of that tournament advances to the Olympic qualifying tournament, where a ticket to Paris can be earned.

“We have decided to continue the line of the last window in February and once again give plenty of opportunity to our younger talents,” says Gjergja. “We want to focus on the most talented young lions in the next two years and give them the opportunity to take the next steps in their development. This is also the reason why so many young players have been selected. In this way we try to make the generation change as smooth as possible.”

Sports manager Jacques Stas adds. “We understand how important it is to integrate the new generation. It is a vital aspect to the Lions’ future success. The more experienced players will take it upon themselves to guide the youngsters and set a good example. The recent good results of the U20 Lions are very hopeful for the future.”

The selection:

Ismael Bako, Vrenz Bleijenbergh, Servaas Buysschaert, Simon Buysse, Thijs De Ridder, Leander Dedro, Pierre-Antoine Gillet, Archange Izaw Bolavie, Tim Lambrecht, Elias Lasisi, Manu Lecomte, Siebe Ledegen, Marlon Makwa, Joppe Mennes, Nathan Missia-Dio , Ajay Mitchell, Retin Obasohan, Mattias Palinckx, Xander Pintelon, Milan Samardzic, Loïc Schwartz, Niels Van Den Eynde, Thibault Vanderhaegen, Hans Vanwijn
