Now also official: U21 international Louis Patris is experiencing “a dream” and is leaving OHL for Anderlecht

U23 international Louis Patris is leaving Oud-Heverlee Leuven for record champion RSC Anderlecht, the club announced on Saturday. In the Astridpark, the 22-year-old right wing defender signed a contract for five seasons. It costs about 4 million euros.

Patris played with the youth of Standard until 2015, after which he left for OH Leuven. There he made his debut for the A-team on March 1, 2021. Last season, Patris was titular with the team from Leuven and caught the eye of the national coach of the national reserves, Jacky Mathijssen. Since the end of September 2022, he has collected six caps there. Now Patris has to compete with Michael Amir Murillo at Anderlecht. Patris will have time to develop at Purple & White, as he signs a five-year contract.

“It is a dream and a great honor to sign for this club with its rich history,” said Patris in a first reaction on the club website. “I really want to do my part to reach the top again with this club. I am really looking forward to the first training sessions and competitions and can’t wait to start the season.”

Days after the Danish striker Kasper Dolberg, Anderlecht has received its second reinforcement with a view to the new season. CEO Sports Jasper Fredberg therefore reacts with satisfaction, after criticism has arisen in recent weeks after the lack of reinforcements.

“With Louis we bring a talented Belgian player to our team. On the flank he can show himself with his speed and offensive impulses. We are very pleased that we have been able to secure him with a long-term contract so that he can develop further with us.”
