Víctor Barberá, the 18-year-old Catalan attacker who snatched Club Brugge from FC Barcelona’s B-team, has recorded some nice statistics at the U19 European Championships in Malta. In the first group match he scored the second goal for Spain against Iceland (final score: 1-2) and in the second group match against Greece (0-5 win) he scored twice and provided an assist.
Víctor Barberá was one of the driving forces of Spain, who were more than a size too strong for Greece and could have even scored a hat-trick, were it not for the Greek keeper (2x) and a defender who kept him from a hat-trick.
Spain leads Group B and is already assured of one of the first two places to qualify for the semi-finals. The Belgian U19 failed to qualify for the elite round.
