Australian grand slam winner Ashleigh Barty gave birth to a son: “So excited for our new adventure”

Former world number one in women’s tennis Ashleigh Barty has given birth to a baby boy Hayden. The Australian announced this on social media on Tuesday.

Barty announced in early January that she was pregnant with her first child. “2023 will be the best year yet,” it sounded at the time. “We are so excited for our new adventure.” On Tuesday, she and her partner posted a photo online of their newborn son. “Our beautiful boy,” it says. “Welcome to the world, Hayden!”

The now 27-year-old Barty surprisingly announced her retirement from tennis in March 2022, just two months after she gave her country a home triumph at the Australian Open for the first time in more than forty years. Barty won a total of three Grand Slam singles titles. She was the best at Roland Garros in 2019, at Wimbledon in 2021 and at the Australian Open the following year.
