The Belgian volleyball women have not been able to qualify for the final of the European Golden League. In the second leg of their semi-final against Sweden, they lost 0-3 in Roeselare on Wednesday. The set scores were 20-25, 26-28 and 17-25. The first leg in Lund was already lost 3-2 on Sunday.

Sweden will play the final against Ukraine on July 6 and 9, which won 1-3 (25-22, 11-25, 22-25, 16-25) in the Czech Republic on Wednesday and had already won the first leg 3-0.

In the group stage, the Tigers finished ahead of Sweden, which was the best runner-up. Now they are going through a tumultuous period. National coach Gert Vande Broek appealed against his one-year suspension after allegations of harassment against him by former players of the national team and suspended himself until a final decision is made. Until a successor is found, his deputy Kris Vansnick will temporarily take over.

The Tigers are currently in the last straight line towards the European Championship, which will start in mid-August, including in Belgium.
