Mo Salah ‘completely devastated’ now that Liverpool will not play Champions League next season: ‘We let everyone down’

Manchester United issued its business card on Thursday. It defeated Chelsea 4-1 to secure a spot in the Champions League. Happy United fans, but at Liverpool the temperature has dropped below freezing.

Manchester United’s victory at Old Trafford means that Liverpool will have to play in the Europa League for the first time since 2015-2016 next season. Then it lost to Sevilla in the final. Figurehead Mohamed Salah says he and his teammates have let fans down this season.

The Egyptian wrote on social media: “I am absolutely devastated. There is absolutely no excuse for this. We had everything we needed to make it to next year’s Champions League and we failed. We are Liverpool and qualifying for the league is the bare minimum. I’m sorry, but it’s too early for an uplifting or optimistic post. We have failed you and ourselves.”
