It is not surprising that the development of Arthur Vermeeren is also a topic of conversation in the boardrooms of the biggest clubs. We already wrote that Manchester United and Newcastle have the youth international on the wish list, but according to Spanish media – including Sport reported about it – we can now also add the Spanish national champion FC Barcelona to those interested. Vermeeren has already been compared by analysts to Barça legend Iniesta in the past.

According to our information, Antwerp, which is logically not busy with any transfers these days, is not yet aware of any concrete interest from FC Barcelona. It is true that scouts from the Catalans have been on the Bosuil several times this season.

It is Antwerp’s intention to keep Vermeeren for at least one more season. Conversely, the player also first wants to confirm with the Great Old – he recently signed up to 2026. But what if there is an offer that cannot be refused? Crazy things have happened in football…
