The United States has a top attacker for the coming years. FIFA has given the green light for the transfer of Folarin Balogun from the England to the US national team.

The 21-year-old attacker – with nineteen goals in 34 games on loan at Arsenal’s Stade Reims – could represent both countries. Balogun was born in Brooklyn, New York, but moved to London when he was two years old. Nigeria was also an option for the top talent.

Balogun was part of the youth academy of The Three Lions, but still chooses the national American team. “My decision to leave the USMNT (U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team) was done together with my family,” says the attacker. “We decided it would be the right decision for me to represent the country where I was born.”

FIFA rules allow players to change countries before playing their first league match at international level.

Under ex-Beerschot coach Will Still, Balogun is a revelation at Stade Reims in the French league. He will return to Arsenal next season and hopefully we will see him shine in the Premier League.
