The native of Liège would compete against the Olympic champion from Tokyo in the last match on the third field on Saturday evening. But the weather gods decided otherwise.

The 32-year-old Goffin and the 26-year-old Zverev have already faced each other five times and Belgium’s number 1 leads the mutual confrontations with 3-2. He also won the last meeting, in 2021 in Monte Carlo.

The winner may compete in the third round (sixteenth finals) against the American JJ Wolf (ATP 54). He eliminated the Pool Hubert Hurkacz (ATP 15) 6-3 and 6-4.
