Nobody was happy about it, but necessity sometimes breaks law and so in the first weekend of January football was played again at provincial level. Here and there someone was missing due to an already booked ski holiday, trip to the sun or family celebration, but for most of them, duty called. Like for all those former players of the late Peter Devos who took their shoes out of the closet again on Sunday morning and played the first memorial of their trainer, who died in November 2022, for the Cancer Fund. With an extra compliment to Lieven Cnudde, also a victim of this terrible disease and due for chemotherapy again this week, but still prominently present on the field on Sunday.
