The Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security requested that Google exclude 167 domains of pirate sites from search results. An undisclosed court order mentions Cuevana, Vizer, Novaflix, Overflix, Ultraflix, Pelisplushdamong other rogue streaming and downloading sites.
Brazil has made a strong effort to combat online piracy on several fronts in recent years. The initiatives of “Operation 404” have resulted in numerous arrests and arrestswith the most recent action taking place during the course of the beginning of this year.
Brazil’s Ministry of Justice and Public Security congratulated the international cooperation that led to 11 arrests. 63 music applications were also withdrawn in the inspection operation and 128 domains of pirated sites ended up blocked by internet service providers.
“The objective is the removal of audio and video content, such as games and music, blocking and suspension of illegal streaming websites and applications, de-indexing of content in search engines and removal of profiles and pages on social networks,” said the Ministry. .

Actions to combat piracy have gained prominence in the media, even internationally. In the numerous reports, information was missing about the sites and applications specifically targeted, but now it is possible to have an idea which were the sites that caught the attention of the Brazilian government to the point of asking for them to be removed from the air.
The Ministry of Justice specified that search engines should remove domain names from their listings. Until a few days ago there was no public information about this, but Google complied with the court order of the Brazilian authorities this last Wednesday (19).
