Roeselare beats Aalst in make-up game and secures first place (and home advantage) in Champion play-offs


Roeselare easily won a make-up game of the sixth matchday in the Champion play-offs of the Lotto Volley League on Wednesday. The West Flemish made it to Aalst with 0-3 and secured first place in the playoffs. The set scores were 21-25, 21-25 and 21-25.

In the Champion play-offs, the six best teams compete against each other in first and second legs at the end of the regular season. With one more day ahead, Roeselare (29 points) is in the lead and the West Flemings are now also certain of first place.

Maaseik (24) follows as second and can prepare for the Champion Final with Roeselare. The team that can win three games first is Belgian champion. Roeselare has home advantage as the winner of the Champion play-offs.

Haasrode Leuven (18) is in third place ahead of Ghent (13) in fourth place. They assure themselves directly of a European ticket. Aalst (fifth with 7 points) and Menen (sixth with 5 points) close the row. They will play for a European ticket with the winner and runner-up of the Challenge play-offs. They are Achel and Guibertin respectively. Borgworm finished last in those Challenge play-offs.

The tenth and final day of the Champion play-offs is scheduled for Saturday.
