Swedish international for Antwerp: Ondrejka from this summer on the Bosuil

The deal can’t go off. Antwerp will bring Jacob Ondrejka (20), a Swedish international from Elfsborg, for next season.

We are only in April, but with Jacob Ondrejka, Antwerp has already secured its first summer acquisition. Elfsborg’s wing attacker, who was also interested in AZ Alkmaar from the Netherlands and Besiktas from Turkey, has already visited Deurne-Noord and is about to sign a multi-year contract. According to our information, the deal can no longer jump off: Antwerp would pay about 1.5 million euros.

Ondrejka broke through at a young age at Landskrona BoIS, where Elfsborg snatched him. He is a youth international with the U21 and was also allowed to make his debut for the A-squad: against Iceland in January he scored the 2-1.

Your newspaper previously spoke about Ondrejka with Petter Landén, a Swedish journalist from the Expressen newspaper. “You know Christian Wilhelmsson from Anderlecht. Well, style-wise Jacob is a bit like him. He is also a fast wing attacker with a good dribble in his legs. He has impressive acceleration and technique that is above average. At Elfsborg he is a seasoning. Jacob has a lot of potential. However, you should not immediately expect him to become the new Golden Boot. In the past it has often turned out that the step for Sweden to the Belgian competition is quite big. And Jacob is only twenty. Give him an adjustment period, but that does not alter the fact that he will be an asset for Antwerp.”

Ondrejka came on the Antwerp radar through the scouting. It should be clear that since the arrival of Marc Overmars, that department has been increasingly used.
