Hekkensluiter Virton sees relegation approaching

Virton failed to keep up with Standard’s U23 in the standings on Sunday on the sixth matchday of the relegation group in the Challenger Pro League. After a late 0-1 defeat against Lommel, it is one step closer to relegation.

The Gaumais have been in excellent shape in recent weeks with a 7 out of 9 and also seemed to score a point against Lommel at home, until Jonas Vinck (88.) knocked out his own goalkeeper in the absolute final.

Thanks to the victory, Lommel again jumps to seventh place in the ranking of the second highest Belgian football division with 42 points. Virton closes the row, in twelfth and last position, with 21 points.
