Bad luck again for Bianca Andreescu. At the Miami Open, the 22-year-old Canadian had to stop fighting after spraining her ankle in the round of 16. The winner of the US Open 2019 moaned in pain and even left the stadium in a wheelchair.

In the eighth final at the Miami Open, the former Grand Slam winner faced the Russian Ekaterina Aleksandrova. The Canadian handed over the first set after a tiebreak, but in the second set she seemed to turn the tide. But with 2-0 on the scoreboard, disaster struck. While attempting to return the ball, 22-year-old Andreescu sprained her ankle. The doctors rushed to her aid as she cried out in pain. “I have never felt so much pain,” she told the doctor.
It was later confirmed that Andreescu suffered an ankle injury. Since her title at the US Open in 2019, the Canadian has been in trouble. Due to one injury after another, she never reached the level of her Grand Slam victory. However, she seemed to be on the right track in Miami with victories against Emma Raducanu, Maria Sakkari and Sofia Kenin.
