England midfielder Declan Rice has officially said goodbye to West Ham United, with a farewell letter. Rice moves to vice-champions Arsenal and becomes the most expensive English transfer of all time. Arsenal have not yet announced the arrival of Rice (24), which may happen later today.

A large farewell letter can be read on West Ham’s club website: “These last few days and weeks have been an absolute whirlwind of emotions, but it is important to me that I have the opportunity to say goodbye and reflect on something so’ has been a special and memorable part of my life,” Rice began his letter.

“Playing for a West Ham opponent for the first time will be a crazy experience. I don’t know exactly how I will feel yet, but I also know that you will all understand and respect that my professional loyalty now lies with my new club. I will always give 100 per cent when I put the shirt on because that’s how I grew up at West Ham and I’m sure you wouldn’t expect otherwise.”
