Fenerbahçe seems to have to do without our compatriot Michy Batshuayi for a long time. The attacker was out on Thursday in the Europa League match against Sevilla. An MRI scan revealed a tear in the left adductor muscles. This was announced by his club on social media. It is unknown how long Batshuayi will be unavailable.

The striker was carried off the field on a stretcher after nineteen minutes on Thursday. Fenerbahçe won 1-0 against Sevilla without Batshuayi, but that was not enough after a 2-0 defeat in the first leg of the eighth finals.

Not a Red Devil anyway

For the Red Devils it makes little difference. Domenico Tedesco had no place for Batshuayi in his first selection as national coach on Friday. The Italian German indicated that he no longer counted on the Fenerbahçe attacker. “He was not in my core anyway, not even without the injury,” he said.

The 29-year-old Batshuayi, who has fifty caps to his name, is active in the Turkish capital on loan from Chelsea. He has had a more than decent season and so far hit fifteen times in 25 official matches. For the Red Devils, he scored the only goal of the tournament at the disappointing World Cup in Qatar last fall, winning 1-0 against Canada.
