NBA. Utah beats Boston in the end, Embiid improves record at Philadelphia

Utah kept the full booty at home against Boston (118-117) in the NBA on Saturday in a nail biter. Walker Kessler’s buzzer block on Grant Williams kept the Celtics from winning. Meanwhile, in Philadelphia’s 121-141 victory at Indiana, Joel Embiid became the first Sixers player to score at least 30 points in nine consecutive games.

Lauri Markkanen was again the star at the Jazz on Saturday with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Talen Horton-Tucker added 19 points. Because of Miami’s 113-99 defeat at Chicago, Boston is certain of participation in the playoffs.

Joel Embiid (31 pts) was on a roll again at Philadelphia. Together with Tyrese Maxey (also 31 pts), he led the Sixers to an easy victory at Indiana. Boston’s defeat moves Philadelphia into second place in the Eastern Conference.

Jalen Brunson returned to New York after a foot injury and immediately impressed with 24 points, including 16 in the first quarter. The Knicks picked up a 116-110 victory over the league-leading Denver in the west. Nikola Jokic scored 24 points and 10 rebounds for the visitors. Denver is already certain of the playoffs, but has lost five of its last six games.

Finally, Memphis, second in the west, narrowed the deficit to Denver with a 133-119 win against Golden State. Jaren Jackson Jr (31 pts) led the way for the Grizzlies.
