Roeselare stunted on Wednesday by qualifying for the final of the CEV Cup. Steven Vanmedegael’s team eliminated the Italian top club Piacenza. But that did not inspire a new great performance against Maaseik. The Limburgers won the first two sets 25-17 and 25-19. Then national champion Roeselare countered (17-25). But Maaseik managed to win the match 25-21 in the fourth set.

Maaseik thus takes over the leading position from Roeselare (11) with 12 points. Gent (10 pts), which defeated Aalst 3-1 on Friday, is third.

In the Challenge play-offs, Guibertin won 0-3 against Achel: 20-25, 24-26 and 21-25. Guibertin leads the standings with 5 points from two games, ahead of Achel (4) and Waremme (3).
