Food for discussion: Antwerp will not receive a penalty after VAR intervention after clumsy hand play Charleroi defender

Should Antwerp have received a penalty against Charleroi during the opening phase? The VAR thought so, but referee Nathan Verboomen stuck to his decision not to intervene. A dubious decision.

After just under nine minutes, Charleroi goalkeeper Hervé Koffi released a simple ball. The Burundian was assisted by his teammate Jackson Tchatchoua, who got the ball against his arm, after which Koffi was able to clamp the ball.

Referee Nathan Verboomen was called to the screen by the VAR, but stuck to his decision not to give a penalty.
