The Italian Jannik Sinner and the Russian Daniil Medvedev, numbers three and four in the world respectively, have qualified for the semi-finals of the Masters tournament in Miami. It is a re-run of the Australian Open final, won by Sinner two months ago.
The 22-year-old Italian second seed defeated the Czech Tomas Machac (ATP 60) in two sets 6-4 and 6-2 in the quarter-finals. The match lasted one hour and 33 minutes. A little later, Medvedev was too strong for the Chilean Nicolas Jarry (ATP 23) in two sets: 6-2 and 7-6 (9/7). The match between Sinner and Medvedev will be a re-run of the Australian Open final from earlier this year. Then Sinner came out on top.
Last year, Sinner lost his second final in three participations in Florida against Medvedev. In 2021, the Pole Hubert Hurkacz outsmarted him, in 2022 he stranded in the quarter-finals.
