David Silva suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee during training at Real Sociedad on Wednesday. The Basque club announced this on its website on Thursday.
The 37-year-old Spanish midfielder had to stop training due to a sharp pain in his knee. Medical examination showed damage to the anterior cruciate ligament. He will undergo further examinations next week. Silva seems to be able to draw a line through the coming months.
The former Manchester City playmaker has been playing for Real Sociedad since the summer of 2020. He extended his contract with the club in May. Silva made 34 appearances for the San Sebastian club last season, scoring three times and providing seven assists. Sociedad finished fourth in La Liga and thus qualified for the group stage of the Champions League for the first time in ten years.
