Thanks to Simon Adingra (ex-Union) and two goals in extra time: host country Ivory Coast advances to the Africa Cup semi-finals after a crazy match

Adama Traore (ex-Cercle Brugge) missed an early Malian lead in the sixteenth minute by missing a penalty. Ivory Coast lost Odilon Kossounou (ex-Club Brugge) with a second yellow card.

In the second half, Nene Dorgeles (71.), ex-Westerlo, exploited the numerical superiority, but substitute Simon Adingra (90.), ex-Union Sint-Gillis, saved extra time at the last minute. In that extra playing time, Oumar Diakite (120.+2) kicked the Elephants into seventh heaven.

Ivory Coast, which barely survived the group stage as the last best third, will meet DR Congo in the semi-finals. On the other side of the table, Nigeria awaits the winner of the match between Cape Verde and Hugo Broos’ South Africa, which will take place later in the evening.
