Nice scenes before the start of the match between Racing Genk and AA Gent. As part of The Warmest Week, it first rained hugs. Later there was also a nice gesture on the Ghent side, where the players in jerseys came onto the field to support Paul Nardi.

The French goalkeeper of AA Gent suffered a serious injury in the Conference League match against Zorya Luhansk on Thursday. A day later he was successfully operated on at Ghent University Hospital, but Nardi faces months of rehabilitation. That is why the Ghent players entered the field wearing jerseys with “Courage Paulo” printed on them. A welcome boost for the unfortunate goalkeeper.

“Biggest hug rain ever”

There was still something to do before the match. Many Genk supporters provided a real rain of hugs in honor of The Warmest Week. “We want to organize the largest hug rain ever in our country,” said Niel Janssen of KRC Genk Foundation.

The AA Gent branch also participated diligently. Sinterklaas’s helpers then picked up all the cuddly toys. It provided beautiful images from the Cegeka Arena.
