After a week and a half of the Nations League with the Red Flames, Jody Vangheluwe will face a new challenge with Club YLA on Saturday. With the arrival of national champion Anderlecht, now shared third, Blauwzwart wants to extend the spectacular victory against OHL in mid-November.

An extra dimension to the always intense match between Club YLA and RSC Anderlecht: both teams have exactly 20 points on the counter. The winner therefore firmly takes third place.

“That things are not yet going as they have in previous seasons for Anderlecht and that they will therefore be extra stimulated? That is quite possible, but let it be clear that we will also be extremely stimulated at the kick-off,” Jody Vangheluwe makes no bones about it. “It is nice that we are in third place next to Anderlecht, but that will not count during the match. We want to repeat the brilliant performance against OH Leuven, although for me it does not have to end in such a goal carnival (5-3) (laughs). The fact that we were able to score five times against OH Leuven, currently the reference in our competition, proves that we are clearly on the right track and that our hard work in training is paying off. The click with the new staff was quickly made. The emphasis they place has already led us to great results. Against the Purple & White it will undoubtedly be a razor-sharp match again. We will not be allowed to relax for a moment and we will have to take our chances ourselves.”

26-year-old Jody Vangheluwe is back in Bruges after completing the decisive part in the Nations League with the Red Flames. “It is always a great honor to be able to defend the colors of your country. I also see it as a reward for what we have already shown this season with Club YLA. The national team trains at a particularly high level, both physically and technically. Every pass and run must be perfect, otherwise you will be punished. I try to bring that intensity with me to the training sessions at Blauw-zwart. Sometimes it’s the little things, but if I can make the young players a few percent better, that gives me a lot of satisfaction.”
