Just like in many other European competitions, Kangoeroes Mechelen, which is making its debut in the Euroleague Women, finished with a strong match. After an 18-18 score, the Maneblussers only faced a 39-31 deficit halfway through. In the third quarter, the Turkish team took further distance via Tiffany Hayes (19 points) and Elizabeth Williams (14 points) and it went to a 56-45 bonus for Mersin. Kangaroos Mechelen was not upset, won through Morgan Bertsch (12 points, 9 rebounds), Lisa Berkani (20 points, 7 assists) and Ziomara Morrison with a double-double (12 points, 13 rebounds) in the last quarter ( 13-17) and only lost 69-62.

“We now have to take this great experience in the Euroleague Women to the Belgian league and Cup of Belgium. Next Tuesday there will be the derby against Phantoms Boom and on March 11 the final of the Belgian Cup in Vorst Nationaal against Castors Braine. Two great challenges to stay successful in Belgium,” said coach Arvid Diels. Kangoeroes Mechelen is still undefeated in both the Top Division Women and the Cup this campaign. Heleen Nauwelaers and her teammates will return to Belgium tonight. From the disaster area in Turkey and via Adana and Istanbul to Brussels.
