RB Leipzig did not get further than a 2-2 draw on the 21st matchday in the Bundesliga on Saturday at Augsburg. Loïs Openda played a notable role with a goal and a missed penalty.

Philip Tietz opened the scoring for Augsburg after 35 minutes of play. However, the home team could not enjoy its lead for long, because just four minutes later the inevitable Loïs Openda leveled the score again: the fifteenth goal of the season for the Red Devil. In the second half, Leipzig seemed to take control of the match after a goal by Sesko (52.), but Augsburg captain Demirovic brought his team alongside again moments later (60.). Openda had the chance to give his team the victory at the end of the match, but our compatriot failed from the spot.

Leipzig (37 points) is in fifth place in the rankings, three points behind number four Dortmund (40 points). Augsburg is currently eleventh with 23 points.

At the same time, Werder Bremen, with Olivier Deman and Senne Lynen in the starting line-up, suffered a 1-2 defeat against Heidenheim. Maloney (12.) and Beste (18.) quickly doubled the lead for the visitors. Barely a minute after the 0-2, Schmid (19.) gave the home team hope again with the tying goal, but Bremen did not get further than that.

Heidenheim (27 points) jumps to eighth place in the standings due to the victory over Werder Bremen (26 points). Werder Bremen is tenth.

Union Berlin records a narrow victory

Union Berlin won against Wolfsburg by the smallest difference on Saturday on matchday 21 in the Bundesliga. The match, which was stopped for a while in the first half due to fan protests, ended 1-0 in favor of the Berliners.

After just over 20 minutes of play, the supporters stopped the game. German football fans threw tennis balls on the pitch to protest the German Football Association’s decision to bring in more investors to increase the value of broadcast rights. The match was stopped, resulting in an injury time of no less than 21 minutes. Danilho Doekhi (45. + 25) ultimately scored the first and only goal of the game.
