President Joe Biden congratulates LeBron James on historic record: “You inspired a nation”

LeBron James has been showered with congratulations after his point record in the NBA. US President Joe Biden, among others, had words of praise for the American basketball star. “Congratulations LeBron. You have inspired a nation to get better. Keep it up!” Biden said in a video message.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver attended Tuesday night’s game between the Lakers and Oklahoma City. In a short ceremony, he congratulated 38-year-old James for dethroning Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as number 1 on the top scorer list. “A record that has stood for almost 40 years and that many thought would never be broken. LeBron, you are the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. Congratulations!” it sounded.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was also there live in Los Angeles. He handed the Lakers’ number six the basketball that set LBJ the record, after which the two men embraced.
