Alison Van Uytvanck is in the second round at the WTA tournament in Linz

Alison Van Uytvanck (WTA 76) qualified on Tuesday for the second round of the WTA tournament in Linz (indoor hard court/$259,303). The 28-year-old Flemish Brabant made it in her first game against the eighteen-year-old Czech Linda Noskova (WTA 50). It was 7-6 (7/3) and 6-2 after an hour and 35 minutes of tennis.

In the second round (eighth finals), Van Uytvanck will meet the winner of the duel between the Spanish qualifier Marina Bassols (WTA 128) and the Croatian Petra Martic (WTA 34), the sixth seed. They will complete their first round later in the day.

Van Uytvanck is the only Belgian in singles in Austria. Kimberley Zimmermann will still compete in doubles, alongside the Dutch Bibiane Schoofs. The duo will meet the Czech Jesika Maleckova and the Dutch Rosalie van der Hoek in the opening round on Wednesday. (belga)
