Hoffenheim stopped working with coach Andre Breitenreiter on Monday. The club announced this on its website.
The 49-year-old German did not survive Saturday’s 5-2 league defeat at VfL Bochum. Hoffenheim is fourteenth in the Bundesliga, just three points above the relegation zone. It has not won in ten games.
Breitenreiter still had a contract for a year and a half in Hoffenheim. He started the season well and the club was still fourth after six match days. Since then, however, it only took seven points more in thirteen games.
Breitenreiter had only been head coach of TSG Hoffenheim since the end of May last year. He made the switch from FC Zurich, with which he became Swiss champion. He previously worked in his own country at Paderborn, Schalke 04 and Hanover. With both Paderborn and Hannover, he was promoted to the German top division.
Last summer, defender Stanley Nsoki made the switch from Club Brugge to Hoffenheim. (belga)
