Belgian Moroccan Anass Zaroury (ex-Charleroi) put Vincent Kompany’s troops in a seat on Carrow Road early on, in a burly first half that saw three yellow cards on each side.

After the break Vitinho, ex-Cercle Brugge, who had just come on, doubled the lead and Hjalmar Ekdal completely closed the match a handful of minutes later. Manuel Benson was not part of the game selection for the Clarets due to an injury.

Burnley have 65 points in the Championship standings. That is 7 more than first pursuer Sheffield United and no less than 20 more than number three Middlesbroug. The first two teams at the end of the season are promoted directly to the Premier League.
