Sensation in the Premier League, because Everton has managed to snatch leader Arsenal the three points. New trainer Sean Dyche, the successor to the fired Frank Lampard, makes his debut in style with a win. At Goodison Park, the Toffees won by the smallest difference: 1-0.
On the hour mark, James Tarkowski scored the only goal of the match. The central defender headed a corner from Dwight McNeil against the nets. Just before that, Arsenal coach Mike Arteta had already intervened by bringing Leandro Trossard and Jorginho into the team. The latter came over from Chelsea this week on the last day of the transfer period, where the Italian only had half a year left on his contract.
Trossard made himself noticed with a shot on target, but was unable to move the beacons anymore. Arsenal thus suffer their third defeat of the season and can see Man City approach to two points tomorrow.
Everton, with Amadou Onana between the lines for the entire game, can finally win again for the first time in nine league games – since October 2022 (!) The Toffees therefore jump to a shared fourteenth place and are no longer in a relegation place. The Sean Dyche Effect?
