Emma Meesseman has been able to resume training, her Turkish club Fenerbahçe reported on Wednesday via ‘X’. The 30-year-old West Flemish woman was recovering from an ankle injury, which kept her sidelined for several weeks.

At the end of February, the Cats captain dropped out with a foot injury in the match with Fenerbahçe against Besiktas. For a moment the worst was feared for Meesseman. An MRI scan in Istanbul later received favorable confirmation in Belgium. A second degree injury to the ankle and with treatment and rest that injury should resolve within a few weeks. She recuperated in Kortrijk and with Jelle Duthoit, the physiotherapist of the Belgian Cats.

Meesseman did miss the quarter-final of the Euroleague against Avenida Salamanca of fellow Cat Antonia Delaere. Fenerbahçe qualified with one sweep and qualified for the Euroleague Final Four, which will take place on April 12 and 14. Fenerbahçe is the defending champion and Meesseman was crowned MVP of the Euroleague last year. She will go for a sixth Euroleague title next month, which would equal Diana Taurasi’s record.
