Junior Alexander Blockx to semi-finals Australian Open singles (at the expense of doubles partner) and doubles

Alexander Blockx (ITF-10) qualified for the semifinals of the junior tournament at the Australian Open in Melbourne on Thursday. The Belgian third seed did that by beating the Brazilian Joao Fonseca (ITF-23) in 2 hours and 11 minutes 6-7 (7/9), 7-6 (7/5) and 6-3.

For a place in the final, seventeen-year-old Blockx has to pass his Chinese peer Zhou Yi (ITF-25). He eliminated the Swiss first seed Kilian Feldbausch (ITF-5) 7-5, 5-7 and 6-4.

Blockx also in junior doubles semi-finals

Alexander Blockx qualified for the semifinals of the junior doubles at the Australian Open in Melbourne on Thursday. At the side of the Brazilian Joao Fonseca, with whom he forms the first seed, the 17-year-old from Antwerp beat the Ukrainian Volodymyr Iakubenko with 4-6, 6-1 and 1-0 (tiebreak 10-4) and the Estonian Oliver Ojakaar.

For a place in the final, the home players Copper Errey and Marcus Schoeman or the Italian Federico Cina and the Swede Kevin Edengren will be the opponents of Blockx and Fonseca.
